Holger Prang is a sound artist and media-technology entrepreneur working with generative audio, spatial sound and live electronic music. Trained as a media-technology engineer, he previously worked as a researcher and data scientist at the Chora Conscious City Lab at Technische Universität Berlin and the CityScienceLab at HafenCity University Hamburg. His research into urban data models and digital twins led to the development of Foley for Places. Named after the cinematic practice of creating sound for a scene, the project does not attempt to reconstruct the sound of a city, but instead composes a location-specific soundscape from a single street image. It combines machine vision, contextual knowledge and generative audio to imagine how particular places might sound. Prang has collaborated with Gabriela Bila since Immersive Scope at the 2021 Venice Architecture Biennale and composed the soundtrack for her fulldome film Elements of Air, which received the Best Soundtrack award at SAT Fest 2026 in Montréal.
