Welcome to SpherIcon.one!

On November 20th and 21st, 2026, “SpherIcon” will bring together experts and thought leaders at the Planetarium and the Museum of Art in Bochum, Germany, that are shaping the field of science communication using immersive media and advancing the interplay between science and art in shared immersive environments.

“SpherIcon” offers insights into projects and collaborations that address and advance key aspects of how we use new immersive technologies to explore and understand the world, while also introducing the people behind them.

Through presentations under the planetarium dome, as well as talks and panel discussions at the Kunstmuseum, the event aims to provide an overview of current trends in immersive media designed to be experienced collectively, with the goal of fostering professional exchange.

Venues & General Information

SpherIcon will take place at the Bochum Planetarium and the Museum of Art in Bochum, Germany.

VENUE:
SpherIcon is organized by the Planetarium Bochum in Germany, which is not only one of Europe’s most visited planetariums but has also, through projects such as the ``DIVE Festival for Immersive Arts`` (www.divefest.de) and a wide range of other initiatives and collaborations, become an influential force beyond the region in the field of shared immersive experiences.
Complementing the live performances in the planetarium theater, lectures and discussions will be held at the Kunstmuseum Bochum, located a short distance from the planetarium.

More places to stay can be found in the city center, which is one stop with the subway away from the Planetarium , and the area of the „Bermuda Triangle“ -a popular spot for night life in Bochum - which is two stops away.
