Gabriela Bila is a Brazilian architect, artist and researcher with the City Science group at the MIT Media Lab. Her work explores how immersive media can contribute to locally grounded visions of urban futures. Working at the intersection of art, technology and urbanism, she combines XR, film and participatory workshops to co-create future narratives with communities across different geographical contexts. She is the creator of The Imaginary Atlas, Amazonia, an evolving body of immersive installations examining climate adaptation, cultural knowledge and emerging technologies as tools for reimagining cities. Through teaching and collaborative research, she positions fiction as a method for activating collective imagination and developing alternative climate futures grounded in lived experience. Her work has been presented at venues and events including the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, the Venice Biennale, SXSW, the Boston Museum of Science, EXPO, COP, Cooper Hewitt in New York and the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in Paris.
